Poris Avaran is a Guwahati-based enterprise established in the year 2019. The enterprise is promoted and managed by Ms. Papori Saikia Dowerah, an entrepreneur based out of Guwahati. Currently, the enterprise is involved in the following business and services:

  • Weaving Mekhela Chaddar, Sarees, Dress Materials, Furnishing Textiles, and other fabrics, etc.
  • Training Artisans on Handloom Jacquard Weaving, Hand Dying, and Block Printing
  • Developing clusters in far-flung remote villages of Assam and NE to train, develop and motivate them to produce export-oriented products using their indigenous designs, motifs, and color combinations
  • Encouraging the promising weavers to produce and display their skills by providing them with necessary Handloom and raw materials and also buying back their finished products for re-sale and marketing support
  • Similar services are also provided to many Sick / Closed Handloom units developed by various Govt. Agencies and Development councils etc

We are committed to giving the customer 100% pure products weaved from only and only Natural Yarns derived from Animals and Plants / Trees. We strongly discourage and refrain from using man-made synthetic Yarns (except for the small quantity used for side borders, floral designs, etc.) and we want to be always honest in this matter. We are registered/authorized users of SILK MARK and HANDLOOM MARK. We are also registered with Handloom Export Promotion Council and National Handloom Development Corporation.

Our aim is to produce ethnic products of NE in pure natural yarn, through the indigenous people/weavers of NE and to stop the import of such materials from other parts of the country. In other words, we want to make NE self-sufficient in Ethnic fabrics and textile productions.

PORIS AVARAN is promoted by Ms. Papori Saikia Dowerah, hailing from the region. Ms. Dowerah is in this field for more than 15 years. Our factory is set up in the tribal village of Jalukbari near Guwahati. Along with a team of tribal weavers from the village, we weave Mekhela Chadar, Sarees, Other Dress Materials, etc. in our unit. We ensure that all our products carry the ethnicity of design, motifs & colors of Assam and the seven sisters of NE India. We are committed to giving you 100% pure and authentic products with a replacement guarantee on production of proof of any impurity in our products.
